Seasonal Service Calendar
March 1 – April 1
Early Spring
Spring is just around the corner. Now is the time to get started preparing your lawn for the upcoming season.
Spring Clean-ups – Your landscaping and lawn will be thoroughly cleaned of leaves, sticks, and other debris that have collected over the winter.
Mulch Installation – Mulched areas will receive a fresh layer of our enhanced hardwood or cypress mulch.
Step 1 – Early Spring Fertilization and Weed Control – A pre-emergent weed control will be applied to prevent crabgrass and other weed seeds from germinating. An early spring fertilizer application will help build healthy roots and prepare your lawn for the upcoming season.
General Clean-ups – Now is the time to have that vegetation removed from tree lines and around sheds while it is dormant. Low hanging branches can also be trimmed to optimize the growth of grass under those trees, improve visibility, or control the growth onto the sides of buildings.
April 1 – June 1
Late Spring
Spring is officially here. Over the past several years, our mowing begins around April 1st. Your grass is bright green, the trees are blooming, and the landscape beds are ready for new spring flowers.
Mowing – The grass is beginning to grow, and we will soon be in full swing with regular mowing visits. Your lawn will be mowed throughout the season on a once per week basis as needed. The spring is the toughest time of year to mow due to the spring rains. We will work hard to stay on schedule as the weather allows. Each mowing service includes trimming, edging, and clean-up.
Step 2 – Late Spring Fertilization and Weed Control – Your lawn will be sprayed to control any broadleaf weeds and be fertilized with the appropriately timed fertilizer. We’ll also apply a second treatment of pre-emergent to control crabgrass.
Pond Treatment – The water temperature is warming up and algae is starting to appear in the pond. As we get spring rains, the pond is being mixed with sediment and other weeds. It is important to control the algae & aquatic vegetation at the early stages to get good control during the season.
June 1 – September 1
Summer
The summer months are upon us. The yard is looking great and it’s time to enjoy it. It is, however, a more stressful time for the grass. The lawn begins to become dormant as the soil becomes dry. Summer weeds such as crabgrass thrive in these conditions taking essential water and nutrients from the grass.
Mowing – Your lawn will continue to be mowed once per week as needed. During the summer months the grass tends to slow down. In periods of extreme heat conditions and drought, the lawn may become dormant reducing the number of mowings needed. Watering your lawn may be necessary to keep the grass thick and healthy.
Step 3 - Summer Fertilization and Weed Control – Your lawn will need another application of nutrients to keep a healthy root system. We will treat the summer weeds as necessary to ensure your property maintains a neat and clean appearance.
Grub Control – A preventative grub treatment will be applied in early summer and will last all season.
Shrub Pruning – Keeping your shrubs trimmed promotes healthy growth, deters disease, and provides a neat appearance to your property. Your shrubs will be professionally trimmed and shaped. All clippings will be gathered and hauled away.
Tree and Shrub Treatment – All trees and shrubs that may be susceptible to insect injury will be treated with a broad-spectrum insecticide. It will help control insects such as bagworms and Japanese beetles.
Pond Treatment – Now that the pond has reach normal temperatures, the algae and aquatic weeds will be growing rapidly. Algae blooms are common this time of year after a rain and several warm days that follow.
September 1 – November 1
Early Fall
The cooler weather and abundant moisture makes this a great time to rejuvenate your lawn. Fall fertilizer, core aeration, and seeding are recommended this time of year to help any areas in your lawn that need some attention.
Mowing – As the temperatures begin to fall and we begin to get rainfall, your lawn will continue to be mowed once per week through the Fall.
Step 4 – Early Fall Fertilization and Weed Control – Our trained technicians will treat your lawn for any weeds that have germinated. A Fall fertilizer will be applied that will help develop a healthier root system.
Core Aeration – Annual fall core aeration creates a denser turf with a healthier root system and a higher stress tolerance for drought and disease We’ll also spread grass seed in the thin areas of your lawn.
Over-seeding or Slit-seeding – Your lawn may need some new life. By seeding in the fall, you will be sure the new grass is germinated and healthy enough for the winter. It will help to fill in the thin areas that may have occurred over the year.
Perimeter Pest Control – A certified technician will treat around the foundation of your home with a broad-spectrum insecticide. This barrier will stop insects before they enter your home for the winter.
Mulch Installation – Mulched areas will receive a fresh new layer of our enhanced hardwood or cypress mulch in the Fall to enhance your landscaping.
November 1 – December
Late Fall
Your lawn will still be growing, but at a slower rate. The leaves will be changing colors and begin to fall soon.
Mowing/Leaf Mulching – The grass will begin to slow down and the leaves will begin to fall. We will check on your lawn weekly or every two weeks to mow and mulch the leaves as necessary.
Fall Clean-Up – Your landscaping and lawn will be thoroughly cleaned of leaves, sticks, and other debris. Most lawns require several visits in the Fall. It is important to remove the leaves to prevent smothering the grass over the winter and early spring months. The leaves will be bagged and placed on the curb in a pile. Our leaf vac system will come by to remove the leaf pile.
Yard Waste Disposal – If you prefer to clean up your own lawn and would like for us to dispose of the leaves for you, call us to schedule a pick up day.
Step 5 – Late Fall Fertilization and Weed Control – Your lawn will be treated with a winterizing fertilizer for the winter season.
